Rawan is a recent communications graduate who has been documenting the war on her Instagram since October. In this video, shared in mid-June, Rawan shows how bathrooms are built in the camps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Note: I used Google translate and it confused the word bathroom (حمام "hamaam") for pigeon (حمامة "hamama"). ]
In the camps, access to basic hygienic necessities is difficult, but people have engineered ways to survive and reduce the spread of disease however they can. In the video, a group of men construct a toilet and sewage waste pit. They start by mixing sand, gravel, and water into cement to form a base. Then, they place the toilet on the cement base. They dig a deep pit for the waste and line the pit with salvaged metal to keep the sides of the pit from caving in. The men cover the hole with plywood, plastic, and a final cement layer, but leave space for a pipe connecting the toilet to the waste pit. Finally, once construction is finished, the men erect a tent around the toilet for privacy.

Let me introduce you to @balsamibrahim, a 26 years old engineer from Gaza.
When she was only 19 years old she has to become responsible for her family: her father couldn't work anymore bacause of spinal cartilage issues, and he and her mother both have several chronic illnesses.
The war, of course, only made the situation worse. The medicines they need aren't available in Gaza, and without the adequate treatment the family risks losing them both. And let's not forget alla the other problems they are facing: lack of food and clean water, constant attacks, the spread of illnesses...
The family consists of a total of 11 people who need your help!

Haven't had the chance to play actual dnd in real life, but In this run I get the sense that bg3 perfectly captures the "party progresses in a weird sideways way that bypasses tons of the dm's prepared lore, so the dm takes revenge by dropping a near impossible encounter on them" vibe I hear so much about

Jabalia Rehabilitation Society is the only institution in the northern Gaza Strip that provides services to a large group of people with disabilities, especially those with hearing disabilities. It is considered a center for health, psychological and educational support in Jabalia camp that is no less important than government institutions. It is considered one of the contributing and supporting institutions alongside the government health and educational centers in the camp and shares the burden and community services with those centers.
Since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7, the institution has been a center for sheltering thousands of displaced civilians, especially those with disabilities and their families who benefit from the institution's services. However, after the Israeli occupation forces entered Jabalia camp for the second time in the war on May 12, they destroyed and burned all the buildings and facilities of the association after it had been a shelter for thousands of displaced people.

"Last Wednesday, the Israeli Supreme Court held a hearing in response to a petition brought forward by Israeli rights group, HaMoked, to reveal the location of a Palestinian X-Ray technician detained from Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza in February. It was the first court session of its kind since October 7."
if people in israel can speak up against this genocide, as someone who will not be subject the legal repercussions they are likely to face, how can you stay silent?
Concentration camp.
They built a concentration camp.
Tumblr media
I don't think words can describe what this other than genocide.
#The IDF did not directly deny accounts of people being stripped of their clothing or held in diapers. Instead#the Israeli military said that the detainees are given back their clothing once the IDF has determined that they pose no security risk.#CNN has requested permission from the Israeli military to access the Sde Teiman base. Last month#a CNN team covered a small protest outside its main gate staged by Israeli activists demanding the closure of the facility. Israeli securit#demanding to see the footage taken by CNN’s photojournalist. Israel often subjects reporters; even foreign journalists#to military censorship on security issues.#they are not “defending themselves”.#the numbers are NOT the same#“CNN also requested comment from the Israeli health ministry on the allegations in this report. The ministry referred CNN back to the IDF.”#<- but the idf just keeps on lying#highly recommend reading this article... it's very very scary#<- this line is not the first time the IDF has directly lied about what they are doing...#<- they are deliberately attempting to censor the media#we cannot let this go.#if we shut up we are COMPLICIT in this genocide.#to the people saying that israel is defending themselves...#The Israeli military has acknowledged partially converting three different military facilities into detention camps for Palestinian detaine#in which Israeli authorities say about 1#200 were killed and over 250 were abducted#and the subsequent Israeli offensive in Gaza#killing nearly 35#000 people according to the strip’s health ministry. These facilities are Sde Teiman in the Negev desert#as well as Anatot and Ofer military bases in the occupied West Bank.Just before his release#a fellow prisoner had called out to him#his voice barely rising above a whisper#al-Ran said. He asked the doctor to find his wife and kids in Gaza. “He asked me to tell them that it is better for them to be martyrs#” said al-Ran. “It is better for them to die than to be captured and held here.”"#is that not fucking horrifying ???#that this camp is so horrible that people would rather let their loved ones die than suffer through it ????#free palestine

USA please listen to me: the price of “teaching them a lesson” is too high. take it from New Zealand, who voted our Labour government out in the last election because they weren’t doing exactly what we wanted and got facism instead.
Trans rights are being attacked, public transport has been defunded, tax cuts issued for the wealthy, they've mass-defunded public services, cut and attacked the disability funding model, cut benefits, diverted transport funding to roads, cut all recent public transport subsidies, cancelled massive important infrastructure projects like damns and ferries (we are three ISLANDS), fast tracked mining, oil, and other massive environmentally detrimental projects and gave the power the to approve these projects singularly to three ministers who have been wined and dined by lobbyists of the companies that have put the bids in to approve them while one of the main minister infers he will not prioritise the protection of endangered species like the archeys frog over mining projects that do massive environmental harm. They have attacked indigenous rights in an attempt to negate the Treaty of Waitangi by “redefining it”; as a backup, they are also trying to remove all mentions of the treaty from legislation starting with our Child Protection laws no longer requiring social workers to consider the importance of Maori children’s culture when placing those children; when the Waitangi Tribunal who oversees indigenous matters sought to enquire about this, the Minister for Children blocked their enquiry in a breach of comity that was condemned in a ruling — too late to do anything — by our Supreme Court. They have repealed labour protections around pay and 90 day trials, reversed our smoking ban, cancelled our EV subsidy, cancelled our water infrastructure scheme that would have given Maori iwi a say in water asset management, cancelled our biggest city’s fuel tax, made our treasury and inland revenue departments less accountable, dispensed of our Productivity Commission, begun work on charter schools and military boot camps in an obvious push towards privatisation, cancelled grants for first home buyers, reduced access to emergency housing, allowed no cause evictions, cancelled our Maori health system that would have given Maori control over their own public medical care and funding, cut funding of services like budgeting advice and food banks, cancelled the consumer advocacy council, cancelled our medicine regulations, repealed free prescriptions, deferred multiple hospital builds, failed to deliver on pre-election medical promises, reversed a gun ban created in response to the mosque shootings, brought back three strikes = life sentence policy, increased minimum wage by half the recommended amount, cancelled fair pay for disabled workers, reduced wheelchair services, reversed our oil and gas exploration ban, cancelled our climate emergency fund, cut science research funding including climate research, removed limits on killing sea lions, cut funding for the climate change commission, weakened our methane targets, cancelled Significant National Areas protections, have begun reversing our ban on live exports. Much of this was passed under urgency.
It’s been six months.
